Several people have asked how we did, we have our times, but they weren't our goals, our goals were to finish the race, to not need the medics, and to have fun.  We finished, we weren't last, we didn't need the medics, we didn't need to walk our bikes and we had fun.  We plan to make it an annual event!  The water temperature was 60 degrees F so we opted for wet suits.  While in Omaha we enjoyed some yummy food, beautiful sculptures, wonderful fellowship, good conversation and some great thrift stores!  Including  _Reserve_Goodwill in the Market, an upscale Goodwill store with a beautiful bridal section.  Our purchases were wrapped in tissue paper and tucked into a gift bag!

A Before the Race

My number
Years ago A and I talked about doing a triathlon, we both lived in NC at the time, but that summer she broke her foot and I ended up being pregnant with C.  The next year we both moved halfway across the country.  For various reasons and none whatsoever we didn't do it the next couple of summers.  This winter we started looking for a triathlon halfway between our homes and A found one in Omaha.  It was good incentive to work out those cold, dark mornings!  The event was a sprint triathlon with an open water swim of 750 m (about 800 yards), a 20 K bike ride (about 12 miles) and a 5 K run (3.1 miles).

The Mayflies are hatching!

and they are everywhere!  Thankfully they don't bite and this stage of their lifespan is very short.  Apparently the bigger the Mayfly hatch the better the water quality so these swarms are a good thing!
