Nearly every cat in the Cat Complex

was asleep, and the ones that were not asleep were still resting.  It was just after 5 pm, they had just been fed and recalling that many of them are nocturnal, we figured they'd all be awake soon!

The Children's Area was closed but,

there were still some waterfowl around, including this beautiful Wood Duck.

We wandered through

This one was snoozing just on the other side of the glass, he _looked_ so soft.

Bear Canyon enjoying the Black Bears and Polar Bear, there were a few others that were not on display, the children wondered if they could still be hibernating?  As warm a winter as we've had I doubt it.

We stopped to see

the lemurs in Expedition Madagascar.  We fondly remembered watching the Kratt Brothers and their pal Zoboomafoo.  I'll have to check PBS and see if it is still on, C would love it!

Turkeys Twice

We saw turkeys twice today, once as we got off the exit for the zoo in Omaha and once in the zoo, although I don't believe they were a zoo exhibit.

Although

it was off season and there were no Sea Lion Shows scheduled, the sea lions did their best to entertain us with their antics!

We got a chance to watch (and feed) the

carp, ducks and geese.  Thanks for sharing the quarters and corn!

The Sable Antelope

were calmly chewing their cud in a grove near the center of their enclosure.  After reading the warning sign, we decided it was a good thing.

Taking time for journaling and sketching. . .

The Bongos were

older and more playful and inquisitive than the zebra foal.

We enjoyed a glimpse of the Zebra foal,

who was just a month old!

After lunch,

it was time to hit the IMAX theater to don some groovy glasses and watch some sharks and other swimming creatures in 3D.

Picnic

We have enjoyed countless pb & j sandwiches with the T family through the years, and look forward to many more!

The Lion Statue

at the entrance to the zoo was unoccupied when we headed out for our picnic lunch so everyone climbed on a a photo op.

With all the animals in the zoo

the thing that C remembered from our last visit, was this real jeep that is parked in the Wild Kingdom Pavilion  he is convinced that with a little tinkering he can make it run!
