Day Six ~ El Teide

After we came back down the gondola we had a picnic lunch!

Complete with Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies!

Coming back down the mountain we again passed the treeline,

and went through clouds,

and caught a glimpse of Red Mountain and Nude Dude Beach.

Olive groves? Or Grape vines?
Going up the mountain we passed small villages with churches and cemeteries, snow and rock falling signs, bicyclists, clouds and eventually the tree line.  Once in the National Park we rode the gondola to nearly the peak of the volcano.  El Teide is a volcano on Tenerife, Canary Islands.  It's 12,198 foot summit is the highest in Spain and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. It is an active volcano, its most recent eruption was 1909.   It is a UNESCO world heritage site and is the most visited natural wonder of Spain.
