Field Trip ~ Moscow Planetarium
We went with homeschooling friends, The F Family, as they had just completed an astronomy unit. We were glad to go because as with other Moscow museums the toughest part is the ticket booth. Inside the museum English translation on exhibits, at the ticket booth, none. And as with many museums there are many different "packages" you can buy. Besides, we just plain enjoy being with the F Family. The museum was great as was the planetarium show. There were two things that stuck out to me in particular: one, I have heard that the US moon landing is not always taught as fact in Russian schools and two, Russians and some Europeans that I've met insist that the seasons begin on the first of the month, for instance March 1 is the first day of spring. In the planetarium show that we watched they clearly taught that the seasons begin on the equinox or the solstice around the 20th of the month. Also in the history of space exploration the US did get a mention for lunar landings :)
