Angry Birds and other Apps

In the morning we ate breakfast, packed and played while H headed back to the ER, his splint came off during the night, and D wanted to make sure the bones were still aligned.  All was well, and this time they came back with neon green vet wrap holding the splint in place.

Sadly, in the melee of showers, teeth and pjs after the fun pool time my sister D's youngest son H got the tip of his finger caught in the heavy hotel door and broke it!  After a trip to the ER, two stitches, a splint and some antibiotics everyone headed to bed!

Leaving the Monument

we headed back to Rapid City to find a hotel and some supper.  For supper we settled on a Golden Corral, everyone found their favorite and plenty of it, for the bottomless pits that I am raising!  Then we checked into a hotel with a waterpark inside!

The view of the surrounding area

was beautiful as well.

Not all of the Hiking Trails

were open as there was still snow and ice blocking some of the paths but we enjoyed the one that was open, getting a unique view of the monument from an opening in a cave.

What a vision

Borglum had, to turn a rocky outcropping into an inspiring sculpture of these great leaders of our country.  Postcards, books, even movies do not do this monument justice, if you can add it to your bucket list, do, it is worth it!
