The Center was Informative, as Well!

Can you read the caption?  The photo was taken June 17, 2011 in Beartooth Pass, Northern Wyoming.  The runoff will flow into the Yellowstone River and then the Missouri River.  The figure in the center of the pic is a man!

Record water release at the Gavin's Point Spillway was 70,000 CFS in 1997.  That record held until May 30, 2011.  The day we visited the Spillway release was 141, 000 CFS.

The amount of water rushing through the dam was astounding and deafening.

The water felt colder than 71 degrees!

The Lewis and Clark Visitors Center

had an awesome hands on interpretive area with information on Lewis and Clark's journey, the Native American Tribes that lived here, the building of the dams, wildlife in the area, and even a make and take raptor!

Next,

we visited the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center on the Missouri River.

Lunch

Good thing I had a picnic blanket in the car.

Gavin's Point Dam

This is why we used the picnic blanket,

and this!

Love this!
was at an Army Corp of Engineer Park on the Missouri River.  We ate, then drove through the park then looked at the dam.
