South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center, Pierre SD

Monday, February 6, 2012

We left the house early to head to our state capitol, Pierre.  The boys spent the day at the Capitol Building watching our state legislature at work with other teens from our home school group.  However, before we dropped the boys off at the Capitol we went to look at Lake Oahe and the Oahe Dam.

Not a tea party, but a

punch party!  A couple of years ago the girls got cookbooks for a gift, the cookbook titles?  _Fairies Cookbook_ and _Pink Princess Cookbook_!!  They made mints, snowball cupcakes and ice blue punch with sparkly sugar crystals, it was all yummy and a good break from outside work.

It has been

an unseasonable warm and dry winter.  And while it is easier, I know the farmers are worried about drought.  "They" say that March is often our snowiest month, perhaps it will be this year and we'll catch up on the precipitation amounts.

Burning the Brush Pile

We had been waiting since late summer for the snow to fall and cover the ground around the brush pile so we could safely burn. . .Not much snow but an ever increasing brush pile prompted us to burn on a very still Saturday.
