Originally this building didn't have a spire, but according to the story Stalin wanted it to have a spire, the architects knew it couldn't weight bear a stone spire so they added a steel spire painted to like stone.  According to the story Stalin was none the wiser, although the paint job has since faded.

Although there were a few sights that overlapped on Tour one and two, we were given additional information about the sights. We loved the tours and especially how they helped connect Moscow for us.  Much of our time in Moscow is spent underground riding the metro.  Then we pop up to see or do something then we head underground to get to our next destination.  Again, although the tour is designed for you to get off and explore an area and pick up the next Hop On Hop Off bus that comes by, we just rode the bus.  We have added lots of places to visit further on our "Moscow Must Do List."

Sure signs of spring in Moscow, sweeping, washing and painting EVERYTHING.

Moscow is a place of unique fashions.

It is typical for the keeper of the porta potties to turn one of then into an office of sorts.

The most prominent sculpture of Karl Marx in Moscow, does that mean there are others?

After our trip on the tour bus we needed a snack and a bathroom.  We could see Tsum, a renowned department store, so we headed over there thinking we could find a snack and a bathroom like in GUM. GUM is set up like a mall with central corridors and stores, restaurants and bathrooms off them.  TsUM was set up like one large department store, and while I am sure it had restrooms and even a cafe it was not easy to find.  So we walked past the Little and Big Theaters and headed to Okhotny Ryad Shopping center and its known quantities.  We enjoyed a slice of Sbarro pizza and their facilities then walked back to Revolution Square where we took a look at the sculpture of Karl Marx and hopped back onto the Hop On Hop Off bus for Tour #2.
