Cotton

One of the things I had hoped to do while on this trip was to photograph a field of cotton, and while we saw some fields of cotton on the way to the beach I didn't have the opportunity to stop and photograph one.  I was please to find a small plot of cotton growing outside the Museum, so I got my chance to photograph it close up and without the chance of angering a farmer :)

North Carolina Museum of History

We only had about an hour on this day to visit the two Russian exhibits currently on display in the NC Museum of History.  Normally, we could spend hours enjoying the exhibits contained in its walls.  Of course photography was not allowed in the special exhibits so you'll have to go visit or take my word for it!  The Tsars Cabinet was a collection of china, porcelain and crystal from the time of the Tsars.  Windows into Heaven was a collection of icons from the Russian Orthodox Church.  Both exhibits were beautiful and very well done and in English! Both exhibits captured the attention of even my youngest and it was fun to see some of the Russian symbolism we have gotten used to in our old home state.

Luvdabch, if I were going to have a vanity plate this would be a good one to have!

Demolition

There is some construction near my parents' home.  We heard there was going to be some blasting at 1 pm on Tuesday, but as things go it was delayed and we did not get to witness the explosion.  Dad said he felt it a couple hours later.  It was still pretty fun checking out the construction site, especially from the vantage point of Grampa's shoulders.
