This 19th century Victorian mansion was built from 1839 - 1843 for Henry Arthur Herbert and his wife, water color artist, Mary Balfour Herbert. The rooms are furnished in period style and portray the elegant lifestyle of the landowning class. Some rooms were repurposed and refurbished in anticipation of Queen Victoria's visit in 1861. The basement contains the servants quarters and kitchens.
