Years ago, in 2010 we visited the Dead Sea Scrolls when they were at the Minnesota Science Museum in St. Paul. At Christmas and Easter we use a story devotional that has as one of its settings Qumran. So, it was extra cool to visit the location of Qumran. We could see the caves on the cliffs and also the excavation of the historical site where the people who copied and hid the scrolls lived. Like the other excavation sites we've seen, there were aqueducts, grain storage, ritual bath, a treasury, and living and eating spaces.
