we enter the NC Forest Service and Soil and Water Conservation District area. We got to see a model of Smokey the Bear and even to meet him! The kids climbed into a helicopter and got to see some lumber being cut. We identified some trees and answered some soil questions. Did you know NC has a state soil? I did not, but now I do!
