Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood

Russian chuches are often named after victories or other historic events.  This church marks the spot where Alexander II was fatally wounded in an assassination on March 1, 1881.  Many Russian churches have beautiful paintings inside depicting stories from the Bible.  At first glance you might think this one does as well, but due to the damp location instead of paint these scenes are all mosaic.
