June 3, 2020

A sign in my building's lobby, something to do with Covid 19.
.
On June 1 adults were allowed to do outdoor exercise in the vicinity of their home from 5 am until 9 am.  Running, walking, biking, rollerblading, but not just strolling, and no sitting or congregating.  Masks were supposed to be worn at all times,  I wore mine in and out of my building and had it available if I was met by enforcement.  It was pouring rain that morning.  Usually, on rainy days there are fewer exercisers, but not this day.  And in a city where even regulars pass each other with nary a glance there were waves, and even smiles.  I was not the only person who was thankful to be able to run in the park again.

When the adult exercise regime was announced, they also announced a strolling program for non-exercisers, children, and invalids.  (not my wording) Each house (apartment building) in the city would be assigned three days each week for outdoor activity.  It was recommended that you walk in proximity to your house, for an hour each assigned day, in the early afternoon. Of course, no congregating, sitting or playground use.  Masks required.

So, in the early afternoon of June 3rd, I took Caleb on a walk.  In the rain, because I wasn't missing our opportunity.  We admired the beautiful flowers, inhaled the scent of the lilacs and apple blossoms, visited the ducks, and marveled at the ducklings.

For anyone counting:  58 days since I had been outside, 66 days since Caleb had been outside.
