is an eastern Orthodox Cathedral designed by the Russian architect Alexey Gornostaev but built after his death from 1862 - 1868. It is set on a hillside overlooking Helsinki and is dedicated to Emperor Alexander II who was the sovereign of the Grand Duchy of Finland during its' construction. Over 500,000 tourists visit the church annually, but, it is also a working church and was mid service when we visited. It is said to be the largest Orthodox Church in Western Europe and belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriachate of Constantinople.
