Desmond Castle and International Museum of Wine

The castle was built as a custom's house in 1500 and served as that until 1641 when it was converted to a naval prison.  Later it was a town jail and during the potato famine a workhouse.  It was restord in the 1990's and now serves as a museum.  The International Wine Museum explores the links of Irish wine trade from Mythology to religious use to present day.
