Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum on the Shore of Lake Jugla

The cradle was hung on a bar over a fulcrum so when the cradle was rocked it continued for some time.

Celebrating Metenis, an ancient spring waiting holiday, along the lines of Maslenitsa, Madi Gras, Fashnacht and Carnival.  Often the celebrants wear masks or animal hats.  There is eating, dancing, and burning of straw dolls.

We're pretty sure this sign means meeting place,

but, we've no idea what this sign means.

We took the Electric Tram out of Riga and then  walked a couple of km to the shore of Lake Jugla. Some of the buildings were open and this was a spectacularly beautiful place.
