You might notice that these ducks look quite different from the ducks we raised from ducklings. We raised Swedish Blacks from ducklings. When it was time for them to free range they headed to the slough with prompting from me. Those ducks never returned from the slough. There are a couple left as of these pictures in September. I figure when the slough freezes they will return to their duck house, hopefully. Anyhoo, whilst I was still in NC Roger had an opportunity to get some ducklings from a friend. They are peking ducks and since we still wanted to put ducks in the freezer we thought we'd raise these. They were not allowed to free range, and instead enjoyed swimming in this kiddie pool.
