One of Stalin's Seven Sisters

Seven Sisters is the English name given to a group of seven skyscrapers built in the Stalinist style.  Russians call them Vysotki or Stalinskie Vysotki.  They were built between 1947 and 1953 in a mixture of Russian baroque and gothic using American skyscraper technology.  There were two more planned but never built.  This one is Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Apartments.  It is the one we can see on our walk to church each Sunday.  After church we set out to walk from church to Red Square to grab a bite of lunch before we headed home.  Flat Stanley came with us as I had a friend with a daughter whose class was sending Flat Stanley around the world ( by pdf email )
