Night Fishing

and wading in a tidal pool.

The light by the bottom of the stairs was covered in red to make it sea turtle safe.  When baby sea turtles hatch they are drawn to the ocean by the moon's reflection on the water.  If they sea bright lights they can become confused and head away from the ocean.

This horseshoe crab was reburying itself in the sand at the ocean's edge.  We hope it made it.  We saw more than 50 dead horseshoe crabs on the beaches this week, we've never seen so many.  The volunteer at the aquarium did not of a specific reason why.
