From the Castle to the Square

Perhaps this was the stable of the Riga Castle...

Riga Castle is the home of the President of Latvia.

Riga Castle was founded in 1330, rebuilt between 1497 and 1515, annexes were added by the Swedish in 1641.

The Castle while home to the President also houses several museums. It was undergoing reconstruction while we were there and was not open to the public.

On the banks of the River Daugava is a monument to Big Christopher who according to legend carried people across the river before there were bridges.

On a hotel...
