When all the furniture was displaced we decided to take up the carpet, that has been the plan all along, we were just unsure of the timing. And we decided it was easier to plan what to do with the floors underneath if we could see them. The centers of the floor in both sections of the living room, what were once called rug floors will be replaced with thin oak, they won't match in age but they'll be closer. The dining room and the guest room are pine and fir and will be refinished as is.
*All cats were removed from the rug before it went to the dump.
