When we first took off we headed out over the Pacific Ocean, West, the woman sitting next to me turned and said to me, " I'm going to Atlanta, shouldn't we be going the other direction?" I explained that I too was going to Atlanta and yes, we should be going East but, that yesterday while at the beach had watched many airplanes start out over the ocean before turning back East, so hopefully that is what we were doing too. Sure enough the pilot made a beautiful turn over the ocean. After sunset we ended up in a storm that had cancelled and delayed and rerouted planes all over the Eastcoast. It was the toughest landing I've ever been on, but safe thanks to the skill of the flight crew, but unlike in the Europe there was no applause upon landing. When I arrived I found out my connection to RDU was delayed, I almost hoped for cancelled at that point. Later, the weather cleared, flights resumed and I arrived home well after midnight, safely.
