Before Alaska and Hawaii entered the Union, the geographical center of the United States was in Kansas.  They still lay claim to being the Center of the Contiguous States.  The actual center is about 12 miles from Belle Fourche in a farmer's field, Kinda immaterial when you are talking about this vast a space. . .
