Eating the mushroom pastry |

C getting his hair cut. |
The salon was between the pharmacy on the left and the Moped store on the right. |
All three boys (R,M and C) were looking pretty shaggy, they all had hair cuts before we left the states BUT that was two months ago today! There is a barber shop or salon in the bottom floor of our building and we were going to make that Saturday, 30 March's project. . . but that still left the challenge of communicating with the person cutting the hair, how short, how much to take off, and how much does it cost. Tuesday R came home from work with his hair cut, he said he was talking to his translator E about words and phrases we'd need to accomplish the project and she found him a place near his office and accompanied him. His hair looked good and only cost the equivalent of US$15. So, Thursday afternoon she made another appointment for M and C and we headed toward Belorusskaya Metro Station to meet R and E at the office. C NEEDED a snack as we arrived a couple of minutes early, so he enjoyed a mushroom pastry as we waited. We walked to the hair salon and C and M got haircuts. The hairdresser was smitten when C told her "Spasibo" and we avoided an international incident when R quickly communicated to M NOT to jam his ballcap back onto his head after she spent all that time washing, cutting, product"ing" and blow drying his hair :) All in all it was a successful outing. And my three boys don't look like they have bushes growing on their heads anymore! Maybe next time I can just have E schedule the appointments, I think I can handle the rest. . .
