Lunch at Lanigan's Pub

In addition to the Hurling memorabilia there was this delightful spice cupboard.

Good food, good drinks, hot chocolate and hot tea to warm us up, and a good waiter.  We had some questions about a sport we had seen some people practicing and some nets and goalposts.  The waiter gave us an intro to Hurling, Ireland's National Sport, and then invited us to have a look around the second floor of the pub, which was a mini museum of Hurling.

Butcher shops are mostly called Victualler.

Named after Alice Kyteler, who died in 1324,or so they say...She poisoned three of her husbands, ran a den of debauchery, and was sentenced to be burned as a witch.

Kilkenny Castle

Kilkenny Castle was built in the 12th century and remodeled in Victorian times. The restored interior is decorated in 1830s style.  It stands beside the River Nore and is a beautiful landmark in Kilkenny City.
