Charles Bridge, Prague

The construction of the Charles Bridge was begun in 1357 under the direction of King Charles the IV.  It crosses the River Vltava.  It is 621 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, it rests on 16 arches shielded by ice guards.  It is decorated by 30 statues that were erected around 1700, the ones on the bridge are all replicas and the originals are in a museum.
