Next to the Kremlin

Many of the brooms I've seen in use cleaning the city streets look to be hand tied brooms made with straw.  These shovels were wooden, perhaps to protect the stones?

we walked along an underground mall where these statues stand as part of fountains in warmer weather.  Many of them appear to be illustrations of children's stories. We will be reading about these and certainly will make another trip here!
