were similar to bathrooms in Moscow. For whatever reason, and I've heard several, the used tp does not get flushed rather it gets placed in the trash can. Not all bathrooms are equipped with toilet stools, some have what we call squatty potties, basically a hole in the floor. And it seems that many French and Russians were not taught the same etiquette that North Americans learned. Remember the sign, "If you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat?" Well, that sign would either be a best seller here or not. . .but they sure aren't familiar with it.
