R wanted to see some mountains, and Basel is in a relatively flat area. And if we could throw in a castle too, that would be all the better. Google helped me find a city that was about an hour and a half by train, in the foothills of the Bernese Alps and had a castle! Although the weather was less than cooperative and I need to learn to take moving photos from within the train, we had a delightful trip. We quickly found ourselves surrounded by farm land with fields of grain and sunflowers, horses, cattle and bison! We think the low lying clouds and fog were obscuring some spectacular views.
