and my girls! The horses at the stables the girls rode at in MN and SD had a mixture of unheated barns and three sided shelters to live in even during the winter. None of the horses were clipped during the winter, and only the older ones wore blankets. Haleif and most of the other horses in the barn appear to be clipped and they wear rugs. The barn is also heated. So before the girls ride, they take off his rugs, groom him and saddle him. After he is saddled he then gets a half blanket that covers him behind the saddle. Depending on the temperature and where they are riding he may also get a blanket thrown over it all until the girls get on for their lesson.
