Advent is the four weeks before Christmas when we are waiting for the birth of Christ. On each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas we light another candle. On the first Sunday we light one candle, we light that same candle each night throughout the week, on the second Sunday we light two candles and so forth. On Christmas we light the 5th candle. Each night we may also have a reading, a scripture or a song to sing. Depending on what tradition you are following you may have different colored candles in your Advent wreath. I was happy to find five white ones that served our purpose at IKEA. Advent and Christmas may look different at our home this year but it is still a time of waiting and anticipating the birth of Jesus.
