House Museum of Beloved Children's Author Kornei Chukovsky

A "Wonder Tree" covered with children's shoes from one of Chukovsky's rhyming stories.

Illustrations from his stories on the fence posts of the estate.
An English speaking guide gave us a tour of his home.  We saw his collection of Dr. Seuss books, his cap and gown and a photo of him receiving his honorary degree from Oxford and a portrait of him painted by Vladimir Mayakovsky.  He enjoyed toys and a slinky was one of his prize items.  The guide recommended we learn enough Russian to enjoy his stories in Russian as the humor didn't translate well.  Much like Dr. Seuss doesn't translate well, she chuckled.
