Although we were barely out of the city and could probably still see skyscrapers if we looked back along the railroad tracks, it felt as if we were in a whole different place. It was quiet and there were few other walkers out and about. Like many other places in Russia a thoroughly modern dacha was right next door to one that had been there for years and years, a vacation home that would have been at home in Aspen shared a fence with a much more modest dacha that may have still had outdoor plumbing.
Not long after I arrived in Russia I bought a four book series _Phoebe Taplin's Moscow Walks_ Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. We have used these books as a reference for many of our walks about Moscow. Included in each book are some out of town trips, too.
